It is always possible to do it manually - but more beneficial to have an integrated solution which interfaces with an ERP system. Workflow almost always starts with the download of the data from a host system. For example, if on the same day goods, i.e. several delivery notes / invoices, are to be shipped to the same consignee, it is much more cost-effective to summarise these goods to one consignment. In ASSIST4 it is possible to build such consignments either manually or by automatic consignment creation. Once goods coming from the warehouse, production or goods receipt are to be packed, data can either be entered afterwards in the shipping department or directly at the packing station.
In the course of the packing process, it is not only documents that are to be generated for shipping. Hazardous goods processing, load device administration and determination of the forwarder also come into play. For such purposes, ASSIST4 offers comprehensive functionality for packing, loading and consolidated consignment creation, electronic links to forwarders and optical archiving of all documents for statistical reports.
Load control makes sense in order to ensure that packages are really complete and shipped by the planned forwarder or courier service. But not every order needs to be processed via the central order processing system. Why not use the web-based shipping order entry application of ASSIST4 instead? With another web-based application, ASSIST4 Tracking & Tracing, transactions can be traced throughout the transport process. Thus, data can be gained to analyse forwarder performance. |
